About us. Kite Magnetics story began at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Monash University in Melbourne. Aeroperm™ was co-developed by Dr Richard Parsons and Prof. Kiyonori Suzuki in 2018. In 2022 Kite Magnetics officially spun out from Monash University and started developing a new class of electric motors for electric aircraft.
Our mission is to create the world’s most powerful zero-emission electric motors that positively impact the future of air travel.
Kite Magnetics team of experts brings together a wealth of experience and passion for electric propulsion technology, materials engineering, design, manufacturing, and certification allowing us to create groundbreaking products for the aviation industry.
2018
Aeroperm™ nanocrystalline alloy developed at Monash University by Dr Richard Parsons and Professor Kiyonori Suzuki.
2021
Aeroperm™ material production scaled up and the first proof of concept electric motor was produced and tested.
2022
Kite Magnetics is backed by Investable and Breakthrough Victoria, the Victorian state government’s new $2B VC fund.
2023
Kite Magnetics first product, the KM120, is announced at the 2023 Avalon airshow.
