The journey began at Monash University, where founder and CEO Dr Richard Parsons and Professor Kiyonori Suzuki worked on developing Aeroperm®. This breakthrough nanocrystalline magnetic material led to a provisional patent in 2019 and became the foundation for Kite Magnetics.
Kite Magnetics was founded in 2021 to bring Aeroperm® from the laboratory into high-performance electric motors and generators. Backed by leading venture capital investors and Breakthrough Victoria, the company has advanced from material development to pilot-scale manufacturing in Victoria, Australia.
Today, Kite is focused on two high-value markets where motor efficiency has an outsized impact: automotive powertrains and advanced UAV propulsion. In automotive applications, Kite enables OEMs and suppliers to manufacture ultra-low-loss Aeroperm® stator cores in-house. For UAV and other non-automotive markets, Kite supplies Aeroperm® cores directly, helping electric platforms travel farther, carry more, and stay on mission longer.

Richard is a world leader in nanocrystalline magnetic materials, having co-developed Aeroperm™, a pioneering technology that drastically enhances electric motor efficiency and performance.
With over a decade of experience at Monash University and Kite Magnetics, Dr. Parsons possesses deep technical knowledge of electric motor technology, expertly bridging advanced material science with practical applications and revolutionizing what can be achieved in the field.
